Leaven

‘The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about thirty kilograms of flour until it worked all through the dough.’

Matt 13:33

Throughout Scripture, leaven or yeast is often used to represent evil and sin. For example, every year before the Passover festival yeast is removed from Jewish homes the week before the festival begins to symbolise that the home is cleansed from sin and evil.

In Jesus' parable of the "leaven", he uses the metaphor of yeast to illustrate how sin grows inside us. Just as yeast puffs up the dough, sin puffs us up, making us bloated, devoid of any real substance except hot air that is full of worthless self-righteousness!

Paul also warned the Church in Corinth, that sin is like leaven, that quietly grows inside us, corrupting us from within as it puffs us up.

From the foundation of the Church the Devil has been working hard to introduce false teachings and doctrines into the ministry of God’s word. Against these, the Apostles and all true believers have been fighting hard to denounce them as heresy and keep our doctrines in line with God's Word.

Sadly today, more and more churches are abandoning God's truths as they abandon the truth and turn to false teachings that are not based on scripture.

Today, churches worldwide are in decline, we are witnessing the fruits of the Devil's work within the church. Perhaps even the great apostasy or falling away itself that Paul writes about in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 before Messiah Jesus' return;

"for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition"

2 Thessalonians 2:3

By planting false Christians in our Church (Tares) who preach and teach a false distorted gospel, the Devil has created an artificial growth in the church that draws people into the fires of destruction. Just like the inner growth of yeast in bread, the church has expanded internally by false Christians using words of hot air, that are not the word of God.

The Kingdom of God on earth began with the sowing of the word of God in people’s hearts. But just as Jesus told us in the parable of the Sower, much of God’s word, the seed, fell on hard, stony, and weedy ground that didn’t bear any fruit. But the seed that fell on good ground has produced fruit, which is the True Church which is full of True Believers.

Have a great week, and God bless,

Trev.
